WALLACE, Marilyn (LaFontaine) - In her 64th year, at Escondido, California, U.S.A. Beloved wife of Micheal Wallace. Loved sister of Barbara (Robert) Oaks, Ronald (Anna Marie), Ralph (Georgina), Peter (Mary-Ann), all of Guelph, Paul (Margaret) of Burlington. Marilyn passed away on July 15, 2002. A mass will be offered at St. John's Church Sunday, November 3, 2002 at 11 a.m.

McHAFFIE, Amy Jessie (nee Brydon) - Of Guelph, passed away, at Guelph General Hospital, Thursday, October 31, 2002, in her 76th year. Beloved wife of the late James J. McHaffie (1979). Dear mother of Barbara (Mrs. Tony) Saretta. Loved grandmother of Sarah J. Saretta. A private service was held at the Wall-Custance Funeral Home and Chapel, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, Friday, November 1, 2002. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to a charity of choice would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Amy McHaffie in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph, Arboretum. Dedication service Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, at 2:30 p.m.

HOWITT, James Francis - At Guelph General Hospital, Guelph, on Saturday, November 2, 2002, at 88 years of age. James Howitt was the beloved husband of the late Constance Howitt. He is survived by his son, Jim and his wife Micheline and his daughter, Geraldine. Jim is fondly remembered by his three grandchildren, David, Micheline and Miguelle. He is survived by his brothers, Angus, Thomas and Douglas and by his sister, Margaret Clair. He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his brothers, John and Frank and by his sisters, Mary Larsen and Grace Marshall. Jim was a Second World War veteran and flew with the RAF in Squadron 242. He was an OAC 1938 graduate and worked for most of his life with the Guelph Board of Health, later Wellington Dufferin Unit. He enjoyed fellowship through the Knights of Columbus, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 234 and the Army Navy Air Force Club. He supported his community with several years on City Council and many years keeping our Thanksgiving Road Races going. The family wishes to thank Drs. Howitt, Traplin and Jichici and the nurses of 4 East for their caring attention. Resting at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, where the family will receive friends on Tuesday, Nov. 5 (today) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Vigil for Jim will take place this evening (Tuesday) at 8:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2002, at Church of Our Lady, 28 Norfolk St., at 10 a.m. Interment Marymount cemetery , Guelph. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Church of Our Lady Building Fund would be appreciated by the family.

GILBERT, Melvin John "Gibby" - The family of John Gilbert, sadly announces his passing, at Brampton Memorial Hospital, on Saturday, November 2, 2002, at age 64, after a short battle with cancer. Melvin John Gilbert, dear husband of Marg Lindsay of Acton. Loving father of Cheryl and Ross Rolfe of Acton, Dave and Anne Gilbert of Guelph and Blair Gilbert of Acton. "Poppy" of Steve, Tommy, Josh, Sam, Ashley, Sean, Sky and Avery. Brother of Tom and Jack Gilbert, June Vanoff and Carol Gilbert. Friend will be received at the Blue Springs Funeral Home, today (Monday) 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be in the funeral home chapel Tuesday, November 5, 2002 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. Remembrances may be made to the Cancer Assistance Services of Halton Hills.

FINK, Ellen Lillian W. - At Groves Memorial Community Hospital, Fergus, on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002. Beloved wife of the late Howard Fink (1978). Dear mother of Ellen Ayton and her husband Jack of Tsawwassen, B.C. and Dr. William O'Hara of Huntsville. Loving grandmother of Lori O'Hara-Hoke and her husband Paul of Mississauga, Lisa Longo and her husband Vince of Brampton and Dr. Gary Ayton of Utah. Great-grandmother of Benjamin Longo and Liam and Emma O'Hara-Hoke. She will be missed by her brother, John James; her niece, Myrtle Gaynes of Kamloops, B.C. and great-nephew, Mark. Predeceased by her sisters, Maude Fink and Gertrude MacLean and her brothers, Albert, Thomas, William and Alfred James. Friends will be received at the Thomson and Collins Funeral Home, 160 St. David Street North, Fergus on Friday, November 8, 2002 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Rev. Stephen Huntley of Melville United Church officiating. Interment at Park Lawn cemetery , Toronto upon arrival of motors at 3 p.m. Ellen's children wish to thank Dr. John Stickney for his exceptional care and her surrogate Fergus family including Joyce, Jean, Ruth, Jeanette, Nelina and other friends for many quiet kindnesses shown her over the years. For those who wish, memorial donations to Groves Memorial Community Hospital would be appreciated by the family.

ELLIOTT, Donald - Of Hanover, passed away, at London Health Sciences Centre, London, on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, he was 66. Born in Huron County, son of the late Clifford and Jean (Doig) Elliott. Don was employed with Waterloo-Oxford Co-op as an Accountant until retiring. Survived by wife, Patricia (nee Bell) Elliott; son, Mark and wife Deborah of Guelph; daughter, Andrea and husband Roger Roulston of Hanover; grandchildren, Jake and Emma Elliott, Brianna and Kyle Roulston. Also survived by brother, Burt and wife Jean Elliott of Chatsworth; sisters, Joyce and husband Bill Turcotte of Kitchener, Helen and husband Alex Cullen of Listowel, Ina and husband Morris Purcell of Gowanstown; sister-in-law, Esther Elliott of Listowel. Predeceased by a brother, Jim and a sister, Blanche McNichol. Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 8, 2002 at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Hanover. Rev. Dr. Ken Oakes officiating. Cremation with interment in Alma Centre cemetery , Atwood, Ontario. Memorial donations to the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of one's choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

COULSON, Marjorie Elaine (Kloepfer) - Peacefully, at her home, after a long and strong battle, on Tuesday, October 29, 2002. Beloved wife of John (Jack) Coulson. Loving mother of Jim and Colette, Nicole and Wayne and Matthew. Dear grandmother of Mackenzie and Curtis. Dear sister of Robert, Bill, Janie (Henry), Judy and Patricia. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Dearest friend of Joanne Fish. Loving sister-in-law of Kathleen and Noreen Coulson. Predeceased by her parents, Doug and Evelyn Kloepfer; her mother and father-in-law, Austin and Mary Coulson; her sister-in-law, Kahrin Kloepfer and brother-in-law, Jim Coulson. Special thanks to Stacey, Karen and Martha of St. Elizabeth Health Care, the nurses of the Guelph General Hospital Chemo Unit, Dr. Levy and Catherine, Dr. Barry and a very special thanks to Dr. Ruddock. FRASER, William - Peacefully, with family by his side, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, in his 87th year. Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years, Olive (nee MacDonald) of Cambridge. Dear cherished father of Shirley Hammond, Cambridge, Jim and Joanne Fraser, St. Eugene, Beverly and Robert Boyer, Kitchener and Robert and Susan Fraser, Edmonton. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Kori Dunseath and Brian McLeod, Guelph, David and Catherine Boyer, St. Agatha, Cheryl and Bruce McInnis, Waterloo, Richard and Belinda Boyer, West Montrose, Catherine J. Boyer, Kitchener, Sophia Dunseath and Rob Rutledge, Grande Prairie, Drummond Frasher, Ottawa and Hunter Fraser and Alexandra Orlova, Toronto. His memory is treasured by his great-grandchildren, Kevin, Kelly, Rob, Joshua, Kyle, Christina, Mallory, Daniel, Shelby and Brooklyn. He is predeceased by his parents, James and Mary Fraser (nee Robertson); his brother, James and sisters, Nessie and Chrissy. Uncle Bill will be lovingly remembered in the memory of their families. Born in Aberdeen, Scotland, Bill immigrated to Canada in 1924. He was employed as a millwright in Cambridge until his retirement in 1981. Bill spent many happy hours working in his workshop and around both his home and those of his family. His love for his family , along with the integrity, strength and fortitude with which he lived will be his lasting legacy. FOLTZ, William Gregory "Bill" - At Guelph General Hospital, on Thursday, November 7, 2002, at the age of 82 years. Beloved husband of Shirley (Schneider) Foltz since July, 1943. Loved father of Dave Foltz and his wife Sheila, Judy Foltz and her husband Mandeep Sandhu, Tim Foltz and his wife Valerie. Proud grandpa of Robert and Laura Foltz. Dear brother of John Foltz and his wife Jean; uncle of Gail Dyson. Bill was employed at Hammond Manufacturing for over 35 years. He will be remembered as a man who could fix anything he put his mind to. DARLING, George William - Suddenly, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, in his 86th year. George Darling, beloved wife of the former Gertie Phillips. Predeceased by his first wife, Lillian (1988). Dear father of Steven Darling and his wife Marie of Cambridge and Linda Demecha and her husband Victor of Calgary, Alta. Cherished grandfather of Michelle (Phil), Kimberely (Cheyenne), Melissa and Alexis; step-father of David Phillips and his wife Anne of Uxbridge, Ont. and step-granddaughter, Nancy (Brian); brother of Peter of Guelph and the late Arthur of England. George was a retired employee of The Canadian General Tower, a member of St. Andrew's Galt Presbyterian Church, served overseas during the Second World War with the Royal Air Force - Pathfinders and was a POW from 1943-1945. Mr. Darling was also a member of the Probus Club of Cambridge, Ancient Mariners Canoe Club, a volunteer with the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, served on the Board of Managers of Knox's Galt Presbyterian Church, active member of the Keenagers Senior Group at St. Andrew's Galt Presbyterian Church. Friends will be received at Coutts Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 96 St. Andrews St., Cambridge on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at St. Andrew's Galt Presbyterian Church, Victoria St., at Osbourne St., Cambridge on Monday, Nov. 11, 2002 at 2:30 p.m. Remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or St. Andrews Galt Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.
