STEIN, Ann (née Cohen). Peacefully in her ninety-third year, at home on Friday, December 20, 2013. Wife of the late Gerald Stein. Beloved mother and mother-in-law of Judith Stein of New York, Linda and Seymour Steinman. Cherished Grandma of Lauren Steinman. Dear sister-in-law of Boris and Bea Stein, the late Harry and the late Dorothy Stein, the late Leah, and the late Sophie Stein. Sister of Doris Brott. Ann will be sadly mourned and fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, family and friends. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jason Agulnik and Dr. Michael Dworkind. Special thanks to her caregivers Marcy, Nenet, and Edralynn, and to the Homecare staff of CLSC René-Cassin for their care and devotion. Morton Levitt

LEVITT, Morton. Peacefully, on Thursday, December 19, 2013. Beloved husband of the late Rebecca Markow. Cherished father of Judy, Marilyn (Edwin) and Daniel (Alicia). Devoted Grandpa of Jade, Sara and Carmen. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Bella and the late Wilf Yaphe, Mollie and the late Martin Daneman, Larry and Thelma Levitt, Joseph and the late Rochelle Levitt, Aaron Levitt, Donald and the late Lillian Voronoff, Monique and the late Sydney Levitt, the late Victoria and the late Matthew Levitt, the late Esther and the late Sam Yellin, the late Simon and the late Eleanor, and the late Morris Levitt; and brother-in-law of the late Freda, the late Jack, and the late Ethel. Morton was a man of strong moral character and unwavering ethics. He was a well-respected chemical engineer who built and ran a very successful electroplating business. Very active right into his nineties, he excelled in many sports and shared this enjoyment with his entire family. He was always a generous benefactor to all those in need; an exemplary role model throughout his life for his family and community. The family extends their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the loving caregivers for allowing him to spend his last few months in the comfort of his home: our “Major Domo” Cora, our “911” Evelyn and Aurelia. Our caregivers were expertly supported by the amazing services of the CLSC René-Cassin and the Mount Sinai Home Care Team. Special thanks to Linda Arsenault and Kathy Macdonald. Dr. Fern J. Cramer Azima

On Wednesday, December 18, 2013. Wife of the late Dr. Hassan Azima. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Renée and Richard Heller, Andrea and Matthew Frank. Cherished grandmother of Alexa and Drew Heller; David, Raquel and Jacklyn Frank. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Bunny and Dr. Mortimer Lechter, the late Birdie and the late Aaron Kizell, the late Edith and the late Mal Dental. Daughter of the late Moses and the late Leah Cramer. Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, family, friends and colleagues. Dr. Cramer-Azima was a scholar, published author, teacher, travelled and lectured world-wide. Graduate of Queens University, Cornell University, and University of Montreal; Associate Professor of Psychiatry, McGill University and Director of the Child & Adolescent Service, Therapy Day Centre at the Allan Memorial Institute/Royal Victoria Hospital; President (1989 to 1992) International Association of Group Psychotherapy and Editor, The Forum; President (2007-), Canadian Group Psychotherapy Foundation; Consultant for the United Nations. A pioneer in occupational therapy, she created the Azima Diagnostic Battery which is still administered today. She worked with great scientists including Penfield and Cameron on revolutionary studies dealing with sensory and sleep deprivation; she was one of the first to use behavioural studies in marketing research which included advertising campaigns for Esso’s Put a Tiger in Your Tank and the Marlboro Man. In 2005, the American Group Psychotherapy Association honoured her with the Distinguished Fellowship Award, Special thanks to Dr. Kevin Petrecca and the MNI staff, Dr. Tina Kader of the JGH, and our homecare staff, Violetta, Feli, Connie and Maritess for their care and devotion. Loving grandmother of Deborah Pardo-Kaplan and Jonathan Kaplan, Tammy Pardo, Liane, and Matthew Jacobson. Proud great-grandmother of Gabriella and Talya. Dearest sister and sister-in-law of Myrtle and the late Charles Friedman, Adele and the late Alex Simon, and predeceased by Miriam and Saul Davis, Beatrice and Oscar Rishikoff. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by Phyllis Rideout, by her nieces, nephews, family and many friends. Peacefully, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, December 27, 2013, in his ninetieth year. Dearly beloved husband of Dianne Crelinsten. Devoted father and father-in-law of Janet and Jim, Martin and Diane, Nancy and Vicki. Cherished grandfather of Mara, Rebecca and Shlomi, Michael and Lea, Lauren, and Robbie. Proud great-grandfather of Abby, Zoe, Nathan, Talya, Noa and Shai. Dearest brother and brother-in-law of the late Ida and the late Moishe Wigdor, the late Anne and the late Max Garmaise, Mary and the late Michael Richler, the late Louis and the late Phyllis Richler, the late Moses and the late Eve Richler, the late Fred and the late Etty Richler, Ruth and the late Lionel Richler, the late Bernard and the late Bertha Richler. Predeceased by his siblings and their spouses, Abraham and Riva, Yetta and Yonna Goldman and Dave Haupt, Fanny and Issie Bass and Chaim Kopans, Louis and Helen, Dave and Stella, Edith and Hymie Sugar. Predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Abraham, Jack, Leon, and Edward Taub. He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at the age of ninety-two. Most beloved husband of Jenny for fifty-eight years. Dear father and father-in-law of Bernard and Carole Fried, Florence and Nelson Asinowski. Cherished Zaidy of Lauren, Alexandra and Sydnee Fried, and Morgan Asinowski. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Elizabeth and the late Martin Fried, the late Goldie and the late Avrum Miller. He will be sadly mourned and fondly remembered by his family, many friends and people that met him throughout the course of his life. Hertzi was a gentle, loving and caring man, always keeping his wife’s and family’s best interest at heart. Devoted and loving mother and mother-in-law of Bernard and Beth Goodman, Cherished grandma of Joy Goodman and Nadia Guarneri, Jonathon and Cathy Goodman, Michelle and Steven Eisenberg. Proud and adored Grandma Gertie of Hannah, Noah, Ben, Sophie, Jacob, and Abby. Predeceased by her siblings and their spouses, Harry and Pearl Sambad, Bertha and Louis Barkin, Mac and Minnie Sambad. Dearest aunt of Martin and Erika Sambad, Barbara Sambad, the late David Barkin. Gertie will be lovingly remembered by all those who had the good fortune to meet and know her.
