At Elgin General Hospital, St. Thomas, on Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, Jacob Cartier, age 78, of Grand Pointe, beloved wife of Clara (Benoit) Cartier. Born in Grande Pointe in 1924, son of the late Annie (McLennan) and Alfred Cartier, Jacob farmed in Dover Township until his illness and was a member of St. Philippe Church, Grande Pointe. Loving father of Jacques Cartier and his wife Margaret of Grande Pointe, Jean Cartier and his wife Karen of Ottawa, Carmel Marentette of Chatham and Jeanne D'Arc and her husband Dean Bradley of Pain Court. Sadly missed by eight grandchildren, three step-granddaughters and six step-great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Mary Cartier of Grande Pointe, Mae Cartier of Grande Pointe, Sister Ste. Cecile Cartier of Windsor, Philippe Cartier and his wife Marie Jeanne of Peace River, Raymond Cartier and his wife Helen of Chatham, and Robert Cartier and his wife Norma of Grande Pointe. He is predeceased by three brothers: Omer, Orville and Wilfred Cartier; and by one sister, Barbara Cartier. Friends and relatives called at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002 at 10 a.m. in St. Philippe Church. Parish prayers were said on Monday at 3 p.m. Burial was in St. Philippe Church cemetery, Grande Pointe. Donations to the Maple City Centre for Older Adults or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
Suddenly at his residence on Monday, Dec. 16, 2002. David "Dave" Joseph Claes of RR 1 Pain Court, at the age of 41 years. Born in Chatham in 1961, loving son of Yvonne (Halelewyn) Claes and Joseph Claes of Chatham. Dave was a truck driver for Chapple Fuels. Cherished brother of Ken Claes of Chatham. Also surviving is a niece Rebecca Ashley Regnier of Chatham, and an aunt, Lia Hebert and her husband Hilary of Blenheim. Friends and relatives called at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated in St. Joseph's Church on Friday, Dec. 20, 2002 at 10 a.m. Parish prayers were said Thursday at 3 p.m. Interment of ashes followed in St. Anthony's Cemetery. Donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
At Meadow Park Nursing Home, Chatham, on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, Elizabeth "Betty" Mary Clubb, at the age of 80. Daughter of the late Maude Kathleen (Edmond) and Patrick Skelton. Loving mother of Marni Parker and her husband Paul of RR 1, Morpeth. Grandmother of Mike and Chris and four grandchildren. Dear sister of Patricia McCullough and her husband Chuck of Keswick and Ron Skelton and his wife Bernice of Toronto. At Betty's request there was no funeral home visitation or service. Cremation has taken place. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated and can be done so by calling the funeral home at 352-5120. Arrangements were entrusted to the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South.
Peacefully at her residence in Chatham on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, Doreen Evangeline King, age 65, of Chatham, beloved wife of the late Patrick T. King (2001). Born in Chatham in 1937, daughter of the late Doris (Miflin) and George Flint. Doreen was a member of the Ladies of Ste. Anne Society and Immaculate Conception Church in Pain Court. She will be sadly missed by three children, Michelle Anne Piette and her husband Anthony of Chatham, Yvette Eleanor Robert and her husband Paul of Pain Court, and Joseph Patrick King and his wife Colleen of Pain Court. Loving grandmother of Nicole, Aric, Natalie, Patrick and Kacey. Dear sister of Harold, John, Donald, Ken and Edward Flint. Friends and relatives called at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002 at 1 p.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Pain Court. Parish prayers were said Monday at 3:30 p.m. Members of the Ladies of Ste. Anne held prayers on Monday following parish prayers. Burial was in the Immaculate Conception Church cemetery in Pain Court. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the VON Palliative Care would be appreciated.
