BEVAN:

At Copper Terrace Longterm Care Facility, Chatham, on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, Dorothy B. Bevan of Chatham and formerly of Toronto, at age 83. Born in Calgary, Alberta on Monday, Jan. 28, 1918, daughter of the late Ida Louise Coate and Richard L. Bevan. Dorothy was a secondary school teacher, retiring in 1980. She taught at the Pines in Chatham, Alliston (Ont.) High School, and her last 30 years were at Havergal College, Toronto, where for many years she was head of the math department. Dear sister of Marie Wing of Gananoque, Frances Crummer of Chatham, Betty Carruthers of Chatham and Elaine Bevan, also of Chatham. Loved and loving two Godchildren, Bill Carruthers of Chatham and Judy McCarty of Lakewood, Colorado. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by one great niece and one great nephew. At Dorothy's request there was no funeral home visitation. She was taken from the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South where cremation took place. A memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph's Church on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001 at 11 a.m. For those wishing to express their sympathy, the family will be at the church at 10:30 a.m. Burial of the ashes will take place in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto at a later date. Donations to the Cancer Research Society (305-200 Isabella St., Ottawa, Ont., K1L 1V7) or to the St. Joseph's Church Restoration Fund (P.O. Box 261, Chatham, Ont., N7M 5K4) would be appreciated by the family.

COFELL:

Suddenly at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (Public General campus) on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, James "Jim" Leslie Cofell, age 61, of Blenheim, beloved husband of Sherry (Kett) Cofell. Born in Chatham in 1940, son of the late Elizabeth (Laing) and Garnet Cofell. Jim worked at Motor Wheel for 21 years, at the Glass Factory for seven, and as a supervisor at Fabco in Ridgetown for three years. Cherished father of James Garnet Cofell of London, Jennifer Malott of Chatham and Jami Cofell of Chatham. Grandfather of Karis, Jayden, Taylor and Jesse. Dear brother of Betsy March and her husband Charlie of Thamesville and Jack Cofell and his wife Sharron of Bothwell. Friends and relatives called at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South, from where the service was conducted on Monday, Nov. 19, 2001 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Mr. Marc Vincent officiating. Cremation followed. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to the Lung Association would be appreciated.

DOYLE:

Peacefully at her residence on Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, Nellie Agnes Doyle, age 77, of Chatham, wife of the late Robert E. Doyle (1999). Born in Chatham in 1924, daughter of the late Marjorie (McGee) and Hugh Smyth, she was a charter member and first president of St. Ursula's Catholic Women's League, former Diocesan president and Ontario provincial president and life member of the National Council of the Catholic Women's League, a former president and life member of the Kent County Children's Aid Society, a past president and life member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of St. Joseph's Hospital, and a former employee of St. Joseph's Hospital, retiring in 1986 as director of admissions. She will be sadly missed by a daughter, Catherine Ann Gaudreau and companion James Napper of Thamesville; by a son, Edward James and his wife Cathy Doyle of Chatham; by grandchildren, David, Kelly, Jolene, Chrystyn and Ryan; and by four great-grandchildren; and by sisters Bessie Emery and Margaret Doyle, both of Chatham. She is predeceased by a sister, Mary Robert (2000); and by a brother, Patrick Smyth (1991). Friends and relatives called at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on Monday, Nov. 19, 2001 at 11 a.m. in St. Ursula's Church. Parish prayers were said Sunday at 7 p.m. Burial was in St. Anthony's Cemetery. Donations to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance would be appreciated by the family.
