Margaret "Peggy" MacDonald

MacDONALD, Margaret "Peggy" - 81, Dartmouth, passed away October 10, 2002, in the VG Site, QEII. Born in England, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Albertine (Lit) Griggs.

She was a veteran of the Second World War, having served in W.R.N.S. Peggy was an avid bowler and a life member of Somme Branch 31 Ladies Auxiliary. She spent many happy times at the cottage with her family and enjoyed many hobbies such as needlework, stamp collecting and bird watching.

Surviving are her husband, James; daughters, Pamela (Les) Walsh, Georgetown, Ont.; Kathryn (Gordon) Snell, Dartmouth; sons, Martyn (Heather), Dartmouth; Andrew (Angela), Dartmouth; Donald (Karen), Sackville; Grant, at home; sister, Patricia, North Wales; grandchildren, Mandy, Jennifer, Susie, Jillian, Ryan, Corben, Michael, Jonathan, Jeremy, Alicia; nephew, David (Ann) Smith, England.

Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday, memorial service 1 p.m. Monday, both in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, Rev. Patricia Malin officiating. Burial will be in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. A reception to follow in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadain Cancer Society or a charity of choice.

Margaret Gray

GRAY, Margaret - 96, Sambro Head, died October 10, 2002, in Armview Estates. Born in Birmingham, England, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Sarah Gaskin.

She was a life member of St. James United Church, past president of the UCW and past post mistress for Canada Post. She will always be loved and greatly missed.

She is survived by daughters, Goldie (Sherman) Hart, Sambro; Mary (Winslow) Boutilier, Halifax; Shirley (Gary) Withers, Fall River; sons, Brenton, Pennant; Arthur (Violet), Murray (Phyllis), Wayne (Linda), all of Sambro Head; extended family, Robert (Frances) Hannay, Sheldrake Lake; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by husband, Samuel; son, Donald; eight siblings.

Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday in St. James United Church, Sambro, Rev. Ann Singer officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Donations may be made to St. James United Church.

Esther Adeline Drummond

DRUMMOND, Esther Adeline - 82, Lake Loon Road, passed away October 8, 2002, in Northwood Centre. Born in Lake Loon, she was a daughter of the late James and Selena (Sparks) Drummond.

She was a member of Cherry Brook United Baptist Church as well as a member of the Cherry Brook Lake Loon Citizens Club. In her early life, she worked as a homemaker. She was an avid basket weaver making and selling her baskets at the Halifax City Market.

She will be sadly missed by her family. Esther is survived by daughter, Karen Drummond, Lake Loon; sister, Nancy Lucas, Lucasville; grandchildren, Lynn Grant, Michelle Wright, Paula Wright, Sissy Lalonde, Dorenda Middleton, Charles Wright Jr., Carlos and Ian Drummond; 11 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchil- dren.

She was predeceased by daughters, Margaret (Charles) Wright, Maxine (Walter) Middleton; one son in infancy; twin sister, Edith; sisters, Alice Beals, Dollie Drummond; brothers, Herbert, Wilfred, Joseph, John and Ronald. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. for family only and 7-9 p.m. today in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth.

A funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Friday in Cherry Brook United Baptist Church, Rev. Wayne Desmond officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. A repast will follow in Atlantic Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cherry Brook United Baptist Church.

Gerald Theodore Veniot

VENIOT, Gerald Theodore - 78, East Petpeswick, passed away October 8, 2002, in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Theodore and Catherine (Bayers) Veniot.

Gerald was a veteran of the Second World War and worked for 42 years as a machinist toolmaker, with Halifax shipyards. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed woodworking, and gardening.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by daughter, Linda, Eastern Passage; sons, Terry (Lynn), Lake Echo; Roy, Halifax; brother, Stanley (Sheila) Veniot, Petpeswick; sister, Mildred (Wilfred) Conrad, Halifax; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, the former Bernice Mason; sisters, Ruth, Phyllis; brother, Bertram.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, Rev. John Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. A reception to follow in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Nova Scotia Branch or Canadian Diabetes Association.

Elizabeth Mary Harbinson

HARBINSON, Elizabeth Mary - 77, Halifax, passed away October 8, 2002, in Halifax. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late William and Ida (Shaw) Hurwery.

She was employed with Nova Scotia Stationers. She was a member of Spencer House. Elizabeth was very dedicated to her church, Knox Presbyterian.

Surviving are daughters, Susan (David) Tappin, Newburg, N.B.; Heather (Paul) Richardson, Woodstock, N.B.; sons, Patrick Harbinson, Mississauga, Ont.; Frederick (Meg) Harbinson, Guelph, Ont.; close friends, Linda and Debbie Ryder; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

The remains are resting in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax, where visiting will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Knox Presbyterian Church, Halifax, Rev. George MacDonald officiating. Burial to follow.

Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.

Sheila P Drake (Allt)

DRAKE (Allt), Sheila P. - 41, Timberlea, and her daughter Stephanie B. Allt, died October 7, 2002, in Tantallon. Sheila was born in Halifax and was a daughter of Robert and Gloria Drake of Halifax.

Sheila had worked at The Bay for over 25 years. She was a soccer mom. She will be truly missed as a devoted wife, mother and friend.

Surviving are husband Stephen Allt, daughter, Sarah, at home; brothers, Robert, Danny and Arnold, Halifax; Ted, Alberta; sisters, Nancy, Cathy and Patricia, Halifax; Carol, Alberta; Bernice, Halifax.

The remains are resting in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax, with visiting 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral mass 10 a.m. Friday in St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, Halifax, Father Duncan MacMaster officiating. Cremation to follow. Interment in Oakridge Memory Gardens, Lower Sackville. A reception will follow the mass in St. Theresa's Church Hall.

Stephanie B. Allt

ALLT, Stephanie B. - 12, Timberlea, and her mother, Sheila B. (Allt) Drake, died October 7, 2002, in Tantallon. Stephanie was born in Halifax and was the youngest daughter of Stephen Allt of Timberlea and the late Sheila Drake.

Stephanie was a student of Ridge Cliff Middle School, Timberlea. She was a member of the school soccer team and was a member of the under 13 Nova Scotia Provincial Team. Stephanie was an honors student and in French emersion.

She is survived by sister, Sarah, at home; uncles, aunts and cousins.

The remains are resting in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax, with visiting 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral mass 10 a.m. Friday in St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, Halifax, Father Duncan MacMaster officiating. Cremation to follow. Interment in Oakridge Memory Gardens, Lower Sackville. A reception will follow the mass in St. Theresa's Church Hall.

Donations may be made to Mount St. Vincent University Athletics.

William Patrick "Bill" Henry

HENRY, William Patrick "Bill" - 52, Armdale, passed away October 6, 2002, at home. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Arthur and Dorothy (Boyle) Henry.

He is survived by his wife, the former Janet Creelman; sons, William, Stephen; daughter, Kelly, all of Armdale; sisters, Shirley (Hunter), Dartmouth; Barbara (Davies), Peterborough, Ont.; Patsy (Smith), Edmonton, Alta.; Linda (Marchant), New Glasgow; brothers, John, Louis, London, Ont.; Ronald, Timberlea; Barry, Sheet Harbour; Donald, Dartmouth; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by sisters, Dorothy Forbes (Halifax); Marie Price (Ottawa, Ont.); Jean Gorman (Halifax); Lorraine Shanks (Halifax); brother, Arthur Jr. (Halifax).

Visitation will take place 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Coronation Avenue, Fairview, Father Duncan MacMaster officiating. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.
