Marie Agnes Lunn

LUNN, Marie Agnes - 82, Dartmouth, passed away July 5, 2003, in Northwood Centre, Halifax. Born in Digby County, she was a daughter of the late Isaac and Agathe (Saulnier) Thibault.

She was a long-standing member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Somme Branch 31. She worked at K-Mart in Westphal for many years.

Marie was the loving mother of Ferris (Betty) Lunn, Porters Lake; Alicia (Jerry) Conrad, Ottawa; Charlene Lunn, Vancouver; Maurita Engleking, Edmonton; Andrea (Harold) Norris, Lower Prospect; Darlene (Llew) Galpin, Dartmouth; sisters, Mae Saulnier, Digby County; Helene (Doug) Melanson, Yarmouth; brother, Willis Thibault, Yarmouth; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ferris Gardener; son, Gordon Harold Lunn; 11 brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today and Tuesday in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Thomas More Church, Father Joseph McKinnon officiating. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Donations may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association.

Dennis Michael Pellerine

PELLERINE, Dennis Michael - 69, Halifax, passed away July 5, 2003. He was a son of the late Michael and Grace (Perro) Pellerine.

He was employed with the construction industry for many years.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 45 years, the former Doris "Dolly" Gavin; daughter, Eleanor (Gary) Nicholson; son, Roger (Wanda) and special grandson, Jason "Buddy", all of Halifax; brothers, Freddie (Kathleen), Elmsdale; Joseph (Elizabeth), Timberlea; Daniel (Kaye), Halifax; sisters, Ruth (Oliver) Shupe, Halifax; Mary (Adam) Chernikhowsky, Vancouver; Elizabeth "Betty", Halifax.

He was predeceased by brother, Andrew; sisters, Dolly and Kaye.

There will be no visitation in the funeral home by family request. Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, in Sacred Heart Church, Timberlea.

Glenn Eugene Miller

Miller, Glenn Eugene- 58, Beaver Bank, passed away July 3, 2003, at home. Born in Digby, he was the son of Margaret (Johnston) Miller and the late Wilfred Miller.

Glenn was employed as a heavy duty mechanic with Halifax Regional Municipality for amost 18 years. He was a member of CUPE No. 108. He was also previousley employed with Blackwood Hodge, Seaboard GM Disel,and Fundy Gypsum.

Always willing to help anyone, he was a wonderful friend to many. Glenn enjoyed spending time at the cottage with family and friends.

He was a loving husband and father, and will be sadly missed by his family. Surviving are his wife, Marlene (Savary) Miller; daughter, Lynn (Troy) Hynes, Lower Sackville; brothers, Roy (Elaine) Miller, Halifax; Gordon (Cathy) Miller, Greenwood; sisters, Greta (Larry) Goodwin, Hillgrove; Dianne Hallman, Saskatoon, Sask.; nephews, Brent, Barry, Steven, Scott, Brad, Michael; neices Kim, Amanda, Melinda, Marlene, grandniece, Mattigan.

Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville. A funeral service will takae place 2 p.m. Monday in Knox United Church, Rev. David Hart officiating, followed by a reception in the church hall. The interment will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Sulis Cemetery, Smith's Cove, Digby Co., Rev. Dave Tramley presiding.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be amde to the Heart and Stroke Fondation of Nova Scotia or Beaver Bank Volunteer Fire Department.

Alan Bell

BELL, Alan - 78, Dartmouth, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2003, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born April 20, 1925, in Skegress, England, he was a son of the late Rendell and Alice Bell.

Alan had served with the Royal Navy for 14 years from 1941-55. He had immigrated to Canada in May of 1957, where he became employed with Famous Players for 30 years, retiring in 1988.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathleen; son, Mark and his daughter-in-law, Kellie, Dartmouth; grandson, Mitchell; granddaughter, Samantha; sisters, Elsie and Doris.

He was predeceased by brothers, Rennie, George, Harry, Sid and Leslie; sister, Lillian.

Resting in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, with visitation from 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, in Atlantic Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Arthur Snow officiating, followed by a reception in the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Kenneth A. D. MacMillan

MacMILLAN, Kenneth Arthur Daniel, C.D. - 83, passed away at his residence in Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII, Halifax, Wednesday, July 2, 2003, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease.
He had been a resident of the Veterans' Memorial Building for the past 10 years. Born in Halifax, January 12, 1920, he was a son of the late Peter MacMillan and Verna Lily (Coupe) (MacMillan) Haycock.
He was a veteran of the Second World War, having joined the R.C.N. as a Boy Seaman in 1937. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer in 1955. Ken had a long career in the life insurance industry, first with Confederation Life and then with Zurich Life. He later changed professions and joined H.R.D.C. (Canada Manpower), retiring from the Spryfield office in 1984. He was a founding member and Past Grand Master of the Bedford Masonic Lodge. He was active in the Anglican Church of Canada, serving as lay reader at St. John the Evangelist Church, Lower Sackville, All Saints Church, Bedford and Emmanuel Church, Spryfield. He also served as a diocesan lay reader in Nova Scotia for many years. Ken was an avid sailor and enjoyed many years of sailing the waters surrounding the Metro area. He was a past member of the Bedford Basin Yacht Club and the Armdale Yacht Club. Ken was well-known for his passion for dancing and touched the hearts of many through his valiant efforts to enjoy dancing while stricken with such a debilitating disease as Parkinson's.
He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Linda (Perry) MacDonald, Kathleen MacMillan; son, Kenneth F. (Connie); grandchildren, Kimberly Doyle-Findlay (Michale Young), Michael, Scott and David MacMillan; great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kane Findlay; brothers, Stewart (Dorothy), Malcolm (Madeline); sister, Kathleen (Donald) Beals; sister-in-law, Gloria MacMillan; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Irene Margaret (Loner) in 1994; son, Daniel Bruce in 1972; brother, Fraser in 2002.
The body has been cremated. No visitation by personal request. A celebration of Ken's life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, in Emmanuel Anglican Church, 322 Herring Cove Rd., Halifax, Father Baxter Park officiating. Fellowship to follow immediately. Interment in St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church Cemetery, 934 Old Sackville Rd., Lower Sackville, following fellowship. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Parkinson's Society of Canada, Maritime Region, Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Garden Fund, QEII, 902-473-7932, or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth.

Ernest Edward "Ernie" LaPierre

LaPIERRE, Ernest Edward "Ernie" - 66, Lower Sackville, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, July 1, 2003, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Kirkland Lake, Ont., he was a son of the late Tony and Alma (Danis) LaPierre.

Ernie served with pride in the Royal Canadian Navy for 25 years. He worked in the dockyard for seven and a half years.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 45 years, the former Emily Pellerin; sons, Paul, Brian (Sue); daughters, Sandra (Blaine), Mickey (Ted), all of Lower Sackville; grandchildren, Patricia, Amanda, Keith, Jacky, Jocelyn, Shannon; great-grandchild, Emily; brother, Gary (Kim), Ontario; sisters, Evelyn (Floyd), Tootsie (George), Jeannette, Georgette (Allan), Juliette (Clem), all of Ontario; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by sister, Jackie.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville. Funeral mass 10 a.m. Saturday in St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, Rev. J.B. Christensen officiating. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Reception to follow in Atlantic Funeral Home Reception Lounge.

Donations may be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia, Kidney Foundation of Canada, Nova Scotia Branch or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
