JANES (Atkinson), Rosina Pauline
JANES (Atkinson), Rosina Pauline - Born on April 20, 1947, in Newellton, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2006, in Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre after a brief battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of William Janes; dearest mother to Kandance (Dean) Rhyno and Robert (Tammy Fortier); cherished nanny to Rachael, Nicholas, Brianna, Joshua, and Austin. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary Halpern and Maurice Atkinson, and brother, Wally Atkinson. She will be greatly missed by her sisters, who were her best friends, June Atwood and Doris Bartley. Rosina will be sadly missed by her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends. Friends may call at Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road (north of Lawrence Ave.), Weston, Ont., today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A complete service will be held in Ward Chapel on Thursday at 1 p.m. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

WILSON, Elizabeth Jean "Libby"
WILSON, Elizabeth Jean "Libby" - 87, Trenton, passed away June 9, 2006, in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Ebenezer and Christina (Nisbet) Wilson. Libby worked for the war effort at the gun shop in Trenton before working at the Aberdeen Hospital as one of the kitchen staff, from where she retired after 40 years of service. She was a member of First United Church, Trenton, the U.C.W., Steeltown Friendly Group, and The Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 29, Trenton. She is survived by son, Ebbie (Kathy) Wilson, Trenton; grandchildren, Scott, Samantha, Sarah, and Steven; great-grandchildren, Hayley and Dominic; sister-in-law, Marjorie Wilson; nephews, George, Oxford; Mark (Dorothy), Trenton; Walter (Muriel), Enfield; Kevin (Crystal), Guelph, Ont.; nieces, Mary (Sandy) MacDonald, Port Hawkesbury; Elizabeth (Graham) MacLean, Dartmouth; and Charmaine (Dale) Jenkins, Trenton. She was predeceased by brother, George, and sister, Mary. Funeral service took place Monday, June 12, at 11 a.m. in First United Church, Trenton, with Rev. Sandy MacLean and Mr. Fergie MacKay officiating. Burial in Lorne Street Cemetery, New Glasgow.

NICKERSON (LeBrocq), Yvonne
NICKERSON (LeBrocq), Yvonne - Lakeland, Fla., died peacefully at home in the arms of her husband on June 12, 2006, in Lakeland. Born in Halifax in 1926, she was a daughter of the late Clifford and Grace (Dunn) LeBrocq (Bedford). She received her education at Mount Saint Vincent, McGill and Dalhousie Universities. Before marrying she taught physical education in the Halifax School System Department of Physical Education. After moving to the United States in 1954, she lived in Niagara Falls, N.Y., Lakeland, Fla., and in Atlanta, Ga., for 30 years. Upon retirement she and her husband moved to Lakeland in 1995. She was a lover of all types of sports and was an avid golfer. She was a wonderful wife and mother and saw only the good in everybody. She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her husband of 52 years, John David. Also surviving are daughter, Krista, and son, Kerry, both of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren, David, Lisa, Jennifer, Brian and Emily. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are entrusted to Heath Funeral Chapel in Lakeland. A memorial service will be held in All Saints Episcopal Church, Lakeland, at 1 p.m. June 17. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery, Bedford, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave., Auburndale, FL 33823 or on-line at: www.goodsheperdhospice.org.

WRIGHT, Bonnie Allison
WRIGHT, Bonnie Allison - 65, Halifax, passed away June 12, 2006, in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Born in Lake Egmont, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Nellie (McMullin) Dunham. She enjoyed the outdoors and gave unselfishly of herself to everyone. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be sadly missed by her husband, Lester "Buster"; children, Ladd Dunham (Donna), Enfield; Heather (Aiden) O'Driscoll, Kelly (Leonard) Jackson, Matthew (Amy) Wright, Iris (Jon), all of Halifax; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Jennie Matthews, Lower Sackville; brothers, Archie, Lower Sackville; Keith, Goffs; David, Lower Sackville. She was predeceased by her brother, Fred; grandson, Dakota; daughter-in-law, Adelaide. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and funeral service will be Thursday at 3 p.m., both in St. Paul's United Church, Antrim, Rev. Marilyn MacDonald officiating. Burial to take place in the church cemetery. A reception will follow downstairs in the church. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Co-operative, Upper Musquodoboit.

CUNNINGHAM, Ida Mary
CUNNINGHAM, Ida Mary - 90, Halifax, passed away peacefully June 12, 2006, at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Grand Bank, N.L., and for the last 33 years, Ida, along with her husband Gordon, was very devoted in caring for her sister Minnie. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Gordon; daughters, Sheila, Donna, Lorna, Joan, and Eva; sister, Minnie; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, June 15, in Oakridge Memory Gardens in Lower Sackville with Captain Jim and Michelle Mercer officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army Spryfield Community Church, 49 Clearview St., Halifax, NS B3R 1N7.

LOSIER, J. Aldéo
LOSIER, J. Aldéo - Edgewood Drive, Bathurst, N.B., passed away Friday, June 9, 2006. Born in Tracadie, he was the son of the late James and Lina (Robichaud) Losier. He was a member of New Brunswick Association of Social Workers and for many years was president of the Board of Directors for The Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes, Bathurst. He was a member, founder and past president of many regional and provincial organizations during the 70's and 80's. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane (O'Neill) Losier; children, Andréa Losier-Doucet (Denis Doucet) of Robertville; Michelle Losier (Clint Guerney) of Wasaga Beach, Ont.; David O'Neill Losier (Isabelle Cormier) of Caraquet, N.B.; brother, André Losier (Suzanne Grenier) of Montréal, Qué.; sisters, Jacqueline (Losier) Richardson (Yvon Richardson) of Sudbury, Ont.; Loula Losier (Henri Skilling) of Tracadie-Sheila, N.B.; grandchildren, Danica, Rémi, Bryan, Erika, Andrew, and Benjamin. Funeral mass was celebrated on Monday afternoon, June 12, 2 p.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary, St. Peter Ave., Bathurst. Burial was in the parish cemetery. For anyone wishing to send tokens of sympathy, the family would appreciate donations to the Palliative Care Unit of the Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation or a favorite charity. SMITH, Richard Gerald "Rick"
SMITH, Richard Gerald "Rick" - 61, New Minas, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2006. Born in Hamilton, Ont., and raised in Grimsby, Ont., he was a son of Renee (Heywood) (Smith) Hansen and the late Russell Smith. He had been employed with Town and Country Tax Office in Ontario and in the early 1970s, moved to Nova Scotia and was self-employed as a bookkeeper and income tax advisor. He was later employed as a school bus operator with both DRL and First Bus Canada. Together with his late wife, Janet, he enjoyed helping to coordinate the Pineo Family Reunion, a tradition that he had been involved in, even following Janet's death in 2003. He also enjoyed fishing and was a former member of the New Minas Lions Club. He is survived by daughters, Melissa (William) Ellis, Halifax; Mavis (Richard) Huntley, Toronto, Ont.; sister-in-law, Diane Smith, St. Catharines, Ont.; brothers, Dave (Margaret) Smith, Grimsby, Ont.; John Hansen, Toronto, Ont.; nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, the former Janet Pineo, he was predeceased by brother, Bruce. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 15, in White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 16, Rev. Robert Billings officiating. Burial will take place in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Family flowers only by request. Donations in memory may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.

HALLYBURTON, Cecil - Picton, Ont., formerly of Middleton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 11, 2006, in H.J. McFarland Nursing Home, Picton, Ont., at the age of 93 years. Born in Wolfville, he was a son of the late Frank and Mary (Rolland) Hallyburton. He was the beloved husband of the late Agnes (Thomson). Loving father to Shirley (Vince) Steiner of Trenton, Ont. Dear grandfather of Bradley and Andrea, both of Trenton, Ont., and great-grandfather of Matthew and Nicholas. He will be remembered by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Mary Johnson, Winnifred Sutherland, Bessie Mayhew, Kay Crowley, and brothers, Frank, Harold, John and Roy Hallyburton. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, June 15, with an Eastern Star service commencing at 7 p.m. followed by a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. in Middleton Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 16, in Middleton Funeral Home (902) 825-3448, Rev. Karen MacNeill officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.

RODGERS, Eric Andrew
RODGERS, Eric Andrew - 43, Afton, Antigonish Co., passed away Saturday, June 10, 2006. Born in Scarborough, Ont., he was a son of Andy and Marina Rodgers. Eric moved to Afton in 1990, with his wife, Darlene and daughter Laura Rose, to work in his field as a CNC machinist. In 1991, they had a son, Alexander Wade, in 1996 they became foster parents to Joe, Danielle and Christine, and the last blessing was in 2001 when Madeline Grace was born. Surviving, besides his parents and family, are brother, Paul Rodgers, Scarborough; half-sisters, Debbie (Brian) Burnette, Oshawa; Donna (Tony) Lamb, Calgary; four nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Matthews United Church, Bayfield, Rev. Jim Chisholm officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Donations to a charity of choice.

WONNACOTT (Adams), Virginia Arlene
WONNACOTT (Adams), Virginia Arlene - 87, Boston Harborside Home, Medford, Mass., died April 28, 2006, in Medford. Born in Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Margaret (Holland) Pulsifer, and stepfather Reginald "Rex" Pulsifer, Halifax. She is survived by sons, David (Valerie) Williamson, Winnipeg, Man.; Douglas (Paulina) Copp, Sydney; grandchildren, Nicole (Brian) Andrews, Jay (Tammy) Williamson, Chantal Williamson and Natasha Copp, Alberta. She is also survived by stepbrother, Donald (Rita) Pulsifer; niece, Pamela (Darrell) Jessome; nephews, Randy (Karen) Pulsifer, Gregory (Denise) Pulsifer, Tantallon, and numerous cousins in Gold River and Western Shore. A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 16, in Pinehill Cemetery, Chester, with Rev. Dan Green officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Davis Funeral Home, Chester (275-3811).

YETMAN (Whittle), Bertha Madelene "Joan"
YETMAN (Whittle), Bertha Madelene "Joan" - 81, Halifax, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 11, 2006, at home. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late John "Jack" and Jessie (Cotton) Whittle. She attended Bloomfield School. Joan was a life member of the Earl Francis Spryfield Branch 152, Royal Canadian Legion, where she worked for many years as a bar manager, retiring in 1991. She remained a steadfast supporter of the Spryfield Legion. She was a long-time member of Emmanuel Anglican Church on Herring Cove Road. Joan is survived by her children, Raymond Yetman and Alana Robinson (Yetman), who both reside with her; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Carol Whittle, Dartmouth; granddaughters, Paula Robinson, Halifax; Krista Pearson (Yetman), Ontario; great-grandsons, Scott Robinson and Jonathan Russell, both of Halifax; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Frederick Joseph Yetman; brothers, Perry and Ronald. Cremation has taken place under the direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd., Spryfield (477-5601). A memorial service will be celebrated on Monday, July 10, at 11 a.m. in Emmanuel Anglican Church with Dianna Brett-Frye as officiating clergy. Burial will follow in Oakridge Memory Gardens. Those who wish to attend are welcome. Following the burial, a reception will be held at the Spryfield Legion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Glenna Thornhill of Palliative Care.

MacLEAN, Mary Irene
MacLEAN, Mary Irene - 84, Harbourstone Enhanced Care and formerly of Reserve Mines, died June 12, 2006, in Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Glace Bay she was a daughter of the late Gus and Annie (Hickman) Parsons. She was a veteran of the Second World War. Surviving are sister, Thelma Wetmore, Dartmouth; close friend and caregiver, Jo Ann; several nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her loyal friend, her dog Comet. She was predeceased by husband, John P. MacLean; brothers, Allister and Gordon. No visitation. Funeral 11 a.m. Thursday in Patten Funeral Home Chapel. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery. patten@seaside.ns.ca
