BANKS-JANES, Ada Mary
BANKS-JANES, Ada Mary - 90, 315 Wile Settlement Rd., Hants Co., passed away suddenly Tuesday, May 2, 2000, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on November 11, 1909, in Seldom Come Bye, Nfld., she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Rebecca Bugell. Ada was a very well-liked person in her community. She was a resident of Wile Settlement for eight years formerly living in Orangeville, Ont. She was still baking her own bread until recently and enjoyed knitting and crocheting very much. Ada was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a very kind and loving person, and will be sadly missed by her family, friends and community. She is survived by her sons, Andrew (Wilimina) Banks, Toronto; Ronald "Ron" (Linda) Banks, Wile Settlement; grandchildren, Janet Banks-Hawryluk (Lorne), Wayne Banks, Judy (Bruce) Bergeron, Lilly Banks, Garnet Banks, Ada and Louise Banks (Twins), Stella Banks, Morgan (Kimberley) Banks, Dwight (Ingrid) Banks, Scott (Chris) Banks, Jeffrey (Cheryl) Scholfield, Alan (Debbie) Schofield, Charlene Schofield (Paul Aarsen); 14 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Bessie Budgell, Nfld; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Abram Janes; grandson, Kenneth Banks; sisters, Gertie Hines, Effie Evely; brother, Harvey Budgell; twin-brothers in infancy. Cremation has taken place. Visitation Thursday from 7-9 p.m. in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King St., where memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel, Peggy Spicer officiating. Burial of ashes at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Orangeville, Ont., beside her grandson Kenneth. Family flowers only, donations may be made to Hants Community Hospital, Windsor.

EARLE, M. Irene
EARLE, M. Irene - Halifax, died February 10, 2000, in the QEII Health Science Centre, after a short illness. Born in Janvrin's Harbour, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Virginia (Boudreau) Dorey, West Arichat. She was an active member of St. Lawrence Parish for the past 46 years. Surviving are her husband, James F. of 58 years; son, L. James and wife Anne Marie Mabey, Halifax; daughter, Joanne Kelly and husband Stephen, Aurora, Ont.; grandchildren, B. James, Halifax; Ryan, Neal and Alanna Kelly, Aurora, Ont.; brother, Francis, Cape Cod; sisters, Rose (Mrs. Gaston Fougere), Middle Sackville; Florence (Mrs. Yves Pinet), Nepan, Ont.; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Clarence, Elias, Henry, Ernest and Dominique. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax. Funeral mass 10 a.m. Monday, February 14, in St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Dutch Village Road, Halifax. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Nova Scotia Branch.

MacKENZIE, Maye A. - West Harve Boucher, died Sunday January 16, 2000, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Port Hastings, she was a daughter of the late Neil and Tena (Lamey) Walker. She was a member of St. Paul Parish, Harve Boucher. Surviving are daughter, Mrs. Tena Coady, West Harve Boucher; two grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Kaye Nicholson, Toronto. Visitation 2-9 p.m. today, 2-9 p.m. Tuesday, in Saint Paul Centre, Harve Boucher. Funeral 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. Paul's Church, Harve Boucher, Rev. Angus MacGillivray officiating. Burial in parish cemetery. Donations to St. Paul Cemetery Fund or any charity. Arrangements are under the direction of J.F. Greene Funeral Services Limited, 507 Bernard St., Port Hawkesbury.

Surviving are sons, Wayne, Ricky, Jason, Port LaTour; daughters, Darlene Blades, Ontario; Laurie Atwood, New Minas; Dawn Atwood, Brooklyn; Brenda Atwood, Clark's Harbour; brothers, Eldridge, Vacil, Oak Park; Curtis, Carleton, James, British Columbia; George, Woods Harbour; Walter, Shag Harbour; Benjamin, River Head; Lindsay, Doctors Cove; sisters, Mary Hopkins, Oak Park; Judy Nickerson, River Head; Elaine Stewart, Shelburne; Linda Nickerson, Karen Kenney, Clarks Harbour; Kathleen Atwood, Barrington Passage; five grandchildren; one great-grandson. He was predeceased by daughter, Nancy Rose; one granddaughter. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, Tuesday and Wednesday, funeral 2 p.m. Thursday, Rev. Edwin Allen officiating, all in H. Huskilson's Funeral Home, Barrington. Family flowers only. Donations to any charity.

MacPHERSON, Forbes - 87, Hillcrest Manor, Truro, formerly of 25 Old Greenfield Branch Rd., Colchester Co., died January 16, 2000, in the manor. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Davis and Jane (Yarn) MacPherson. He worked for several years for John Ross and Sons, Truro. Cremation has taken place. No visitation, service or flowers by request. Burial will be held at a later date. Donations to Canadian Diabetes Association or Canadian Cancer Society.

LEGERE, Gerald Edward "Eddie"
LEGERE, Gerald Edward "Eddie" - 76, High Crest Nursing Home, formerly of Pioneer Street, Springhill, died January 14, 2000, in Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late James Conrad and Alice Mary (LeBlanc) Legere. He was a member of the St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Springhill; the Springhill AA group and past member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Springhill. He enjoyed drawing and writing poems. Surviving are sister, Hazel Embree, Springhill; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Edna; brothers, Archie, Edward, Lloyd. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, Legion service 7 p.m., both in A.H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill. Funeral 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. John's Roman Catholic Church, Springhill, Rev. Patrick Cosgrove officiating. Following cremation, burial will take place in the church cemetery, North Street, Springhill. Donations to Canadian Cancer Society.

GALLANT, Ronald Allen
GALLANT, Ronald Allen - Nixon Road, passed away as the result of a motor vehicle accident in Monton, on Thursday, January 13, 2000, at the age of 41 years. Born in Halifax, on June 26, 1958, he was a son of Ronald and Eleanor (Doubleday) Gallant. Ronald was a psychiatric attendant at the Moncton Hospital for 10 years. He was a member of CUPE. Ron touched the hearts of his family, friends, many coworkers, patients, and all who knew him. He was known by all as "Dr. Ron". He is survived by his parents, Ronald Galllant, Ottawa and Eleanor (Doubleday) Gallant, Halifax; a special friend, Aaron Palmer, Moncton; a brother, David Gallant and wife Amanda, Halifax; a nephew, Christopher and a niece, Stephanie, both of Halifax. There will be no visitation or viewing at the funeral home by Ron's request. A celebration of his life will be held in Theatre A at Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, January 19, at 11 a.m., Rev. Ron Maund officiating. If so desired, donations made to SIDA AIDS New Brunswick, the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Adult Psychiatric Unit or to the New Brunswick Wildlife Federation would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home, Moncton.

FOX, David Leslie - 57, Middle Musquodoboit, passed away Friday, January 14, 2000, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Middle Musquodoboit, he was a son of Annie Elizabeth (Holman) Fox, Middle Musquodoboit and the late John Wesley Fox. He was a resident of Scotia Nursing Home for the past 11 years. He is survived by brothers, Kenneth and wife Delores, Middle Musquodoboit; George and his wife Avis, Lyons Brook; Frank and his wife Elizabeth, Bermuda; sisters-in-law, Lydia, Truro; Carroll, Middle Musquodoboit; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, John and Donald. There will be no visitation by request. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 18, in Middleton United Church, Middle Musquodoboit, Steven Iverson officiating. Spring burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Middle Musquodoboit. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Scotia Nursing Home or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Ettinger Funeral Home, Middle Musquodoboit.

MOFFATT, Richard Francis - 70, Lantz, died December 26, 1999, in the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Yarmouth County, he was a son of the late Richard and Mary (Meuse) Moffatt. Richard enjoyed life, loved the outdoors and airplanes. He was involved in Scouts and Cubs for many years. Surviving are his wife, the former Marguerite Goudey; daughter, Michelle, Toronto; sons, Stephen, Edmonton, Alta.; Mark, Chaswood; Christopher, Esquimalt, B.C.; sisters, Catherine Warner, Port Hawkesbury; Marie Gauther, Vancouver; Anne Serrick, Halifax; brothers, William, Quebec; Vincent, Forest Glen; several grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters, Sarah, Theresa. A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 24, in Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie, Rev. Helen Wadedell officiating. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.

MacCULLOCH, Alberta Bell "Bertie" - 77, Watervale, Pictou Co., died Friday, January 14, 2000, in the Valley View Villa, Riverton. Born in Three Brooks, she was a daughter of William and Agnes (English) Davidson. Mrs. MacCulloch was a member of St. Luke's United Church, Salt Springs and a past member of UCW. She was a devoted homemaker and also assisted her husband at Salt Springs Park. She is survived by daughters, Jean (Bird) (Mrs. Gerald Foance), Watervale; and Margaret; grandchildren, Kirk, Kira, Sarah, Georgina and David Bird, Clifford Thompson, and Ralph Graham; a great-grandson, Regy. She is also survived by her sister, Elizabeth "Lizzy" Bray, Scotch Hill. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald; sisters, Tena Beck and May MacDonald; brothers, Edward, Henry and George Davidson. Funeral will be held today at 2 p.m., in Eagles Funeral Home, Westville, Rev. David Eagles officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Salt Springs. Donations in her memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Nova Scotia Branch or the Canadian Cancer Society.

NETTING, Marjorie Claire - 86, 191 Pereau Rd., Canning, formerly of Halifax, died Friday, January 14, 2000, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late William and Clara (Hurshman) Burns. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald; sisters, Beatrice, Ethel and Violet; brothers, William, Louis, Tom, John and Arthur. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 18, in St. Pius Roman Catholic Church, Fairview, Rev. Duncan MacMaster officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Arrangements are entrusted to W.C. Hiltz Funeral Parlour, Kentville.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by daughter, Jessie and husband Don Bragg, Halifax. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Lawrence. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday in J. A. Snow Funeral Chapel, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax, Rev. Dr. P. A. MacDonald officiating. Cremation to follow. Burial will take place at a later date in Newfoundland.

MacMASTER, Allan Plumb - 75, Hopewell, Pictou Co., died December 24, 1999, in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Roderick and Margaret Anne (Plumb) MacMaster. He served during the Second World War with the Highland Light Infantry of Canada, and was decorated with the Military Medal of Bravery. He worked as a truck driver and also drove a taxi for Jim's Taxi, Stellarton. Surviving are sons, Reg and Rosemary, Worseley, Alta; Allan (Mary), Hopewell; Gordon and Roxanne, Lansdowne; William "Bill", Hopewell; daughters, Barbara (Roy) Lahey, Main-a-Dieu; Margaret Tibbetts, Greenwood; Michele (Rick) Woodroffe, Eureka; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret (Harold) Cream, Tatamagouche; Terry Grabowski, Halifax; Verna Dickson, Trenton; Barbara Carrol, Belleville, Ont. Predeceased by his wife, the former Eloise MacDonald; son, Enon Collin; grandson, Damion. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Wednesday, in H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow, Rev. Marjory Cornelius officiating. Burial will take place in the Foxbrook Cemetery, Hopewell. Donations may be made to War Amps of Canada or a charity of one's choice.

GUEST, Ruth A. "Sue" - 80, Halifax, passed away December 25, 1999, in the palliative care unit, VG Site, QEII. Born in Massachusetts, USA, she was a daughter of the late Percy and Ruth (Bugel) Porter. She was happiest at home, knitting, cooking and playing the piano. She was an avid fan of the Lexicon, which she and her longtime friend, Frances worked on diligently together. She was known as Nanny to Leith and was always ready to help people. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Sue Guest, Halifax; son, Bill, Tennessee; grandchildren, Amy-Sue, Halifax; Shannon Noel, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William Huestis Guest; brother, Edward; sister, Gyneth Nelson. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, in Calvin Presbyterian Church, Ashburn Avenue, Rev. Sidney MacDonald officiating. Burial in St. John's Anglican Church Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to palliative care, VG Site, QEII or Canadian Cancer Society.
