Lloyd Austin Butland

The death of Lloyd Austin Butland of Lakeville Corner occurred at the Oromocto Public Hospital on Sunday, June 29th, 2003. Born in Alma, NB, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Victoria (Carr) Butland, husband of the late Ethel (Calvert) Butland.

Lloyd served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1951-1952 and from 1954-1983 as a physiotherapist until his retirement and then continued working as a physiotherapist in the Minto Hospital. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 53 F&AM for many years.

Survived by one son, Christopher (Darlene) of Darthmouth, NS; one daughter, Victoria MacLeod (Richard) of New Maryland; six grandchildren, Elizabeth, Scott, Jennifer, Krista, Cindy and KayDee; four brothers, Hilton (Helen) of Moncton, NB, Elden of Shediac, NB, Melvin of Ontario and Russell (Louise) of Alma, NB; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at the Lakeville Corner United Baptist Church on Thursday, July 3rd, at 2:00 pm. Rev. James Webber will officiate. For those who wish, memorial tributes can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.

Margaret Helen Cogswell

The death of Margaret Helen Cogswell of Waasis, NB occurred at the Oromocto Public Hospital on July 22, 2003.

Born at French Lake, NB she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Grace (Wood) McLaughlin and wife of the late Percy Roy Cogswell.

Margaret was the last surviving Charter Member of Cecelia Rebekah Lodge # 129, Oromocto and was a Past President of the Rebekah Assembly of the maritime provinces.

Survived by two sons, Blaine Richard Cogswell (Linda) of Waasis, NB and James Darrell Cogswell (Marsha Lutz) of Bowden, AB; one daughter, Bonnie Lee Margaret Anderson (Vincent Shaw) of Cambridge, NS; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Kelly, Kim, Katie, Andy, Jodi-Jay, Trish, Mark and Rebecca; seven great-grandchildren, Lance, Jacob, Hunter, Coltin Nathan, Tatum and Dylan; five brothers, Maurice, John, William, Howard and David and one sister, Elizabeth "Bessie" Keyes.

Predeceased by her husband; three brothers, Robert, Donald and Leland and one sister, Edna Waugh.

No visitation by request.

Funeral service will be held from the Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, July 25, 2003 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Reception to follow service.

Private interment will be made in the Lower Lincoln Cemetery.

For those who wish, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation.

Florance Mildred LeBritton

Florance Mildred LeBritton of Rusagonis, NB, passed away peacefully, at the Oromocto Public Hospital, on Monday, June 30th, 2003. Born in Morrisdale, NB, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Louise Dickison (Turner); wife of George LeBritton.

Survived by her husband, George; two sons - George “Jr” (Connie) of Keswick Ridge and John (Kim) of Charters Settlement; one daughter - Mary Hazlett of Fredericton; eight grandchildren - Tally, Misty, Heather, Darren, Melanie, Brad, Jason and Matthew; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers - Stanley (Blanche) Dickison of Chipman, and Calvin (Betty) Dickison of Nashwaak Bridge; and several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents, a son - Harry; daughter - Judith Jensen; two infant grandchildren, four sisters and one brother.

Visitation will be held at Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2003 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Visitation for immediate family will be held on Tuesday July 1st from 7-9pm. The funeral service will be held at the Rusagonis United Baptist Church on Thursday, July 3rd, 2003 at 11am.

Rev. Brent MacDonald officiating. Interment will be in the Rusagonis Cemetery.

The family respectfully requests that memorial tributes be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Oromocto Public Hospital, in lieu of flowers. Over the past couple of years Florance spent a great deal of time in and out of the OPH and would be happy to know that memorial tributes will go to help make other families comfortable as they spend time with their loved ones.

Richard Joseph Simpson

The death of Richard Joseph Simpson of Oromocto occurred at the Oromocto Public Hospital on Wednesday, July 9th, 2003. Born in Saint John, NB, he was the son of Leo Simpson and the late Lillian (Murray) Simpson; husband of Eleanor (Dickinson) Simpson.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #6774.

Survived by his wife, Eleanor; father, Leo; one son, Jason (Pam) of Kitscoty, AB; one daughter, Sandra Simpson (Greg Stewart) of Geary, NB; four grandchildren, Taylor, Jaeden, Blake and Mataya; three brothers, Murray (Sharon) of Oromocto, Dennis of Fredericton, and Robert (Debbie) of Fredericton; five sisters, Shirley Tardiff (Bob) of Phinox, AZ, Mary Rose Carr (Fred Barton) of Fredericton, Linda Phillips (James) of Fredericton, Debbie Rice (David) of Saint John, and Kathy Winchester of Fredericton, and several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his mother, and daughter, Christine.

Visitation will be held at Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home on Thursday, July 10th, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Friday, July 11th, 2003 at 12:00 noon. Rev. Ken Weir as celebrant. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial tributes can be made to the Oromocto Public Hospital Foundation or the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church Building Fund would be appreciated by the family.

WO Donald Clayton Hartigan, CD
1945-2007

WO Donald C. Hartigan, CD (retired) of Oromocto, NB, passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Sunday, March 11th, 2007. Born in Sydney, NS he was the son of the late L. Col. David and Dorothy (Gray) Hartigan and husband of Donna P. (Rowe) Hartigan.

Don retired from the Canadian Air Force after 27 years of service and then became an entrepreneur. Lovingly known to many as “Mr. Hart”, Don owned and operated Hart’s TV for over 20 years. Don was also a graduate of DeVry Institute.

He will be sadly missed by many including his beloved companion and wife for over 45 years, Donna; his son, D. J. (Karna) of Lincoln, NB; daughter, Darlene (Geoff) of Dartmouth, NS; grandchildren, David, Corey, Denycia, Kyle, Shannon, and Brandy; great-grandchildren, Latoya, Dalton and Alexis; brother, David (Maureen) of Halifax, NS; sisters, Millie (Ray) of Sydney, NS and Noreen (Hank) of Ontario as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to the Doctors and Nurses in the ICU at the DECRH in Fredericton, especially Linda who was very supportive.

Visitation will be held at Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 14th, 2007 from 2-4 pm with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #93 holding a tribute at 2:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, March 15th, 2007 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Keith Howlett officiating.

Adjodhia (Joan) Ramjag

It is with deep regret we announce the passing of Mrs Adjodhia Ramjag. Joan passed away at the Oromocto Public Hospital on Sunday, September 9th, 2007. She is survived by her son, Neil, her daughter, Sabena, daughter- in-law, Sylvie, and grandson, Max.

Joan will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. The family will receive visitors at the Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago Street, from 2-4 PM and 7- 9 PM on Thursday, September 13th, 2007. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 14th, 2007 at 12:00 noon at the St Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Ken Weir as Celebrant. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery. A reception will take place immediately following the burial in the St. Vincent de Paul Church Hall.

For those who wish, memorial tributes made to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Eugene Atlee Burpee
1926-2008

The death of Eugene Burpee occurred at the Oromocto Public Hospital on January 16th, 2008. Born July 18th, 1926, he was the son of the late F. Atlee and Nellie (Darrah) Burpee.

Survived by one sister Ethel Burpee, of Burton, NB and several cousins at various locations.

Eugene was born on the family’s dairy farm, named Pine Grove Holsteins. Which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1998. He received a Bicentennial Farm award in 1984. This was to commemorate five generations of the Family spanning from 1784-1984, Eugene was a very kind and trusting man and he will be dearly missed by many.

Pallbearers will be Nairy Breen, Tim Burgess, Adam Howe, Ernest Blake, Donald Lindsay and Michael Ryan.

Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home on Thursday, January 17, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on January 18, 2008 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Robert McDowell officiating at the Pine Grove United Church where Eugene was a trustee. Burial will take place in the Pine Grove Cemetery at a later date.

Frances Janet Gordon

The death of Frances Janet (Chappelle) Gordon of Upper Gagetown, NB, occurred at the Orchard View Nursing Home on Wednesday, January 16th, 2008. Born in French Lake, NB, she was the daughter of the late Robert Chappelle and Rose (Grasse) Chappelle.

Janet was a longtime and active member of the Upper Gagetown Baptist Church and a lifelong member of the Women’s Institute.

Janet is survived by her three children, Carter and his wife Joyce of Florida, Richard and his wife Evelyn of Upper Gagetown, NB, and Rosalie Randall and her husband Donald of Upper Gagetown, NB; one brother, Andrew Chappelle of Geary, NB, and one sister, Helen Jarvis and her husband David. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Theodore Gordon, one son, Fenton Joel Gordon and brothers, Harold, Luke, Byron and Billy.

The family will receive visitors at the Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago Street, Oromocto, NB (357-5100) on Friday, January 18th, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will take place at the Upper Gagetown Baptist Church on Saturday, January 19th, 2008 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jim McLellan officiating. Interment will take place in the Upper Gagetown Community Cemetery. A reception will take place in the Upper Gagetown Lions Club immediately following the interment. For those who wish, memorial tributes made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Kidney Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
