Dec. 4, 2002, Mom, of Grunthal, Man., was admitted to the St. Pierre Hospital and passed away peacefully Dec. 29, 2002. She went to meet her Lord at the age of 95 years, two months and seven days. She was predeceased by her husband Johan Fehr in 1987.

She battled with leukemia for 14 years and endured a disability all her life and never complained about any of her hardships.

She leaves to mourn her children: son George (Anne) Fast of Edmonton, Alta. and their six children, 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; daughter Mary (Jake) Wall of Edmonton, Alta. and their three children, seven grandchildren; son Henry (Donna) Fehr of Delisle, Sask. and their five children.

Also left to mourn are her stepchildren: Pete (Tina) Fehr, Horace (Margaret) Harel, Helen Thiessen, Dave Penner, Agnes Fehr, Margaret Fehr, Jake and Rita Wiens, Sara Isaac, and all of their respective families. There are approximately 63 grandchildren, 126 great-grandchildren and 37 great-great-grandchildren.

She was also predeceased by her stepchildren: Dave Fehr, Helen Wiens, Anne Penner, Cornie and spouse Anne Fehr, Frank Fehr, John Fehr, and Jake Thiessen.

The funeral service was held Jan. 1, 2002 at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Daniel Fehr officiating. Interment took place in the Grunthal Cemetery.

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved daughter and sister, Jennifer Cherise Lussier, Dec. 25, 2002 at the age of 16 years.

She was predeceased by Mémere (Simone). She will be deeply missed by her parents Maurice and Ruth and her sister Jessica. Also left to mourn are great-grandparent Oma; grandparents, Karl and Illa Korsch, Gerard Lussier; extended family, David and Lila Fifi, children Ryan and Amanda, Marty and Monique Korsch, children Emily and Luc; and the many Lussier family members.

Jenn was born Aug. 2, 1986 in Steinbach, Man. She attended grade 11 at the Steinbach Regional Secondary School and was employed on a part-time basis at Canadian Tire. She recently completed her National Life Guard Certificate and enjoyed babysitting for little Abigail.

Her many talents and gifts were demonstrated by her unique artistic funky style known as "Jennisms." Her charismatic and free-loving spirit impacted many lives. She had a hug and sense of humor that was infectious to all. When Jenn walked in, her smile would light up the room.

Jenn has now gone to heaven to be with her cousin Scotty.

The funeral service was held Monday, Dec. 30, 2002 at the Steinbach Mennonite Church.

Jenn would like to thank her youth pastor Randy Hildebrand for being the Rock of Gibraltar for her family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Steinbach Mennonite Church Youth Program.

Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at the Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg, Man., Anna Unrau of Birds Hill, Man., passed away at the age of 76 years.

Anna was born in the Rural Municipality of Hanover on Aug. 11, 1926 to Peter E. and Aganetha Harder.

She was predeceased by her husband Cornelius Unrau in 1986, her daughter Patricia Oryniak in 2000, and one brother Abe Harder.

She is survived by three grandchildren: Jamie Anne Oryniak, David Nelson Unrau Oryniak and Donald David Oryniak, all of Winnipeg; one brother, Jacob (Susan) Harder and a sister-in-law, Agatha Harder, both of Steinbach; and many relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, 2 p.m., at Loewen Funeral Chapel with interment following in the Steinbach Memorial Cemetery.

Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, Man., Elizabeth Kroeker of the Rest Haven Nursing Home passed away at the age of 78 years.

She is survived by three sisters: Margaret Friesen of Kleefeld, Man., Mary Loewen of Morris, Man., Ann Klassen of Maryfield, Sask., three brothers: Jake L. (Elizabeth) Kroeker of Steinbach, Ben (Helen) Kroeker of Birch River, Man., Levi (Lillian) Kroeker of Armstrong, B.C.; one sister-in-law Annie Kroeker of Morris; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents: Jacob B. and Helena Kroeker; two brothers: Peter and Frank; as well as two sisters: Katherine Friesen and Helena Warkentin.

Funeral services were held Dec. 12, 2002, 2 p.m. at the Evangelical Mennonite Church at Blumenort, Man., with interment at the church cemetery.

Suddenly Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, Man., Leonard Steingart, age 71 of Steinbach, Man., went to his eternal resting place.

Dad was born Sept. 8, 1931 to Jacob H. and Anna Steingart in Bergthal, Man. He was baptized at the Elim Mennonite Church in Grunthal, Man., upon the confession of his faith. On Sept. 7, 1957, he married our mother Sally Funk and together they enjoyed 45 years of married life.

Dad enjoyed many years of employment as a truck driver with Bulk Milk and Penner Transfer. For the 18 years following, he was employed with the Manitoba Telephone System, stationed out of Steinbach, retiring from full-time employment in December of 1990.

Dad continued to keep himself busy with part-time employment at the Royal Bank, and was currently employed with CHSM/96.7FM and the Steinbach Mennonite Church.

Dad will be remembered for the many things that he accomplished. Some of his current enjoyments were gardening, especially the many flowers that he planted faithfully each year, the Eastman Male and Mitchell Seniors Choirs, coffee with his friends and time with his family. Certainly one of his true passions was serenading himself and anyone else who would care to listen to him whistle.

Dad is survived by his beloved wife Sally; three daughters: Lori (Bob) Hiebert, Rosella (Mike) Fast and Kelli (Alvin) Funk; four grandchildren: Jennifer Fast (David Tansley), Russell Fast, Timothy Fast and Kassandra Funk; as well as one great-granddaughter: Evelyn Tansley. He is also survived by two brothers: Alvin (Joan) and Harry (Marlene); his sisters-in-law, brother-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents: Jacob H. and Anna Steingart and one brother Elmer in infancy.

We, the family, would like to thank Dr. Christo Minnaar and Dr. Mark Hoff of the Bethesda Hospital, the team of doctors and the nursing staff headed by Dr. Koulak at the H.S.C., as well as Sylvia Warkentin, the emergency nurse who accompanied Dad enroute to Winnipeg. We would also like to thank the many friends and family for their support.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, 2 p.m., at the Steinbach Mennonite Church, with Pastor Gary Martens officiating. Interment followed at the Heritage Cemetery.

Should friends so desire, donations may be made in Len's memory to the MCC or Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Mrs. Mary Harder, aged 81 years, beloved wife of Peter of Steinbach, Man., passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, after a lengthy illness, Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002 at the Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg, Man.

She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her husband Peter of 59 years; her family: Fred (Cheryl) of Ste. Anne, Man., Emily (Jean-Paul Poitras) of Winnipeg, Audrey (Bob Currey) of Winnipeg, and Reg (Carol) of Steinbach; grandchildren: Kerry, Dennis, Fred Jr., Chris, Lisa, Loreli; and great-grandchildren: David, Alana, Reme and Courtney; two brothers, three sisters and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, her daughter-in-law Helen Harder and her son-in-law John Schmitz.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2 p.m., at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Henry Street, Steinbach, with Rev. Al Maier officiating. Viewing was held Monday at the church from 7 to 8 p.m., followed by a devotional, as well as prior to the service. Interment was at the Heritage Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Mary's memory may be made to CNIB, 1080 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3G 9Z9.

Peacefully Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at the Vita District Health Centre, Eva Chubaty of Stuartburn, Man., passed away at the age of 90 years.

Eva was born in Cowan, Man., Jan. 7, 1912 to Alex and Maggie Shushelnisky. She grew up in Ethelbert, Man., and moved to Stuartburn, to teach at the Prawda School, where she met, and married John Chubaty on June 9, 1930. She lived her whole life on the farm at Stuartburn until her passing. She was predeceased by her parents: Alex and Maggie Shushelnisky; her husband John in 1977; a daughter Helen in infancy; daughter Doris in 1982; as well as brother Dick, and sister Anne.

Left to cherish her memory are four daughters: Anne (Frank) Shymko, Sylvia (Leonard) Baron, Elsie (Frank) Bially, Nancy (Bill) Matishuk; six sons: Bill (Helen), Peter (Helen), Ron (Marge), Jerry (Gloria), Bob (Therese), Larry (Theresa); son-in-law Nick (Nettie) Koniak; 27 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister: Cassie Atamanchuk of Brandon, and many other relatives and friends.

Prayers were said Tuesday, Dec. 3, 7 p.m. at Loewen Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, Man., followed by funeral service with Divine Liturgy Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, 10 a.m., at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church at Stuartburn, with Rev. Fr. Ihor Royik officiating. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.

Pallbearers for the service were Ken Chubaty, Ryan Chubaty, Darryl Chubaty, Shane Chubaty, Jeff Chubaty and Jason Matishuk.

Should friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church at Stuartburn.

Lewis Reimer, beloved husband of Marina of Steinbach, Man., went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002 at the age of 63.

He was born Dec. 29, 1938 to Abram D. and Margaret Reimer of Steinbach and was baptized at the Steinbach Evangelical Mennonite Church at the age of 14. November 29, 1963 he married Marina J. Kroeker. During their 39 years of marriage they had two sons and two daughters, Kelly (Lorie), Farrel (Pat), Rhonda (Hub Blanchette) and Hali; and four grandchildren, Alyssa and Heather Reimer, and Paul and Gabrielle Blanchette. Lewis treasured each and every moment he spent with his family and always made sure his wife, children and grandchildren knew that aside from his faith in Christ, they were the focus of his life.

Lewis was employed with Reimer Farm Supplies for 40 years until a decline in his health prevented him from working with the job and people he loved so much. He was diagnosed with kidney failure in 1997 and began dialysis in the spring of 1999. In the spring of 2001, while in the process of preparing for a kidney transplant, Lewis was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer. He was admitted to St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Nov. 20 and Nov. 24 was transferred to Steinbach Bethesda Hospital, where he died Nov. 30, at 9:35 a.m.

Lewis was predeceased by his father, infant sister, Joan, brother Dennis, stepfather Henry Wiens and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jacob D. and Anna Kroeker.

The funeral service was held Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002 at Evangelical Mennonite Church, Steinbach. Interment at Heritage Cemetery.

After a brief illness in hospital, George Ewert, of Winnipeg, Man. passed away Nov. 30, 2002 at the age of 81.

He was born to Gerhard and Maria (Dick) Ewert on Sept. 19, 1921 in Russia.

They immigrated to Mexico in 1924, and later resettled in southern Manitoba in 1926. He began working as a schoolteacher in 1941, a profession in which he continued until his retirement in 1979. In 1948, he married Hilda Wiebe, who remained the love of his life until his death.

They settled in Steinbach, Man. in 1951, where they raised their seven children. Dad was a very active member of the Steinbach Mennonite Brethren Church for over 25 years, where he served as a lay minister, Sunday school teacher, board member, and choir member, among other areas. His love for God and for the Church was impressed upon his family and his community throughout his time there.

In 1979, Dad and Mom left Steinbach to begin a new adventure in Largo, Florida, where he worked with Project Lookup for over six years, until they moved for the final time to Winnipeg in 1986.

After settling in North Kildonan, Dad and Mom spent many happy years together watching their children and grandchildren grow, and actively participating in several different church congregations and ministries. In particular, Dad found great fulfillment volunteering his time and talents at Family Life Network. Dad and Mom traveled frequently so that they could remain close to family. He placed great importance on being a loving presence in all their lives. He was instrumental in helping many others to grow in personal relationships with God, and his spiritual example will continue to be a comfort and inspiration to the many lives he touched.

George will be very greatly missed by Hilda, his wife and partner of 54 years; two daughters and five sons and their families: Richard (Lynne) of Mannheim, Germany, Ruth of Toronto, Ont., Joyce of Winnipeg, Bert (Leona) of Abbotsford, B.C., Bernie (Shirley) of Bezanson, Alta., Peter (Diane) of Winnipeg, Man., and Don (Wendy) of Mitchell, Ont. He is survived by 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Ewert of Winnipeg, Helen Derksen of Winnipeg; and a large extended family. He was predeceased by five brothers, three sisters, and one grandson.

The funeral service for George Ewert was held Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, 1:30 p.m., at the Elmwood Mennonite Brethren Church, 145 Henderson Hwy., Winnipeg. Interment at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main St., West St. Paul. Viewing and visitation was held at Elmwood MB Church, Tuesday, Dec. 3, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Family Life Network, 225 Riverton Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R2L 0N1

The family would like to thank Dr. J. Regehr, Dr. P. Harris, Dr. C. Yeung and the compassionate staff at Concordia Hospital, for the care they provided during Dad's last days.
