NORTHCOTT -- Raymond (Ray) Northcott of Kelowna, passed away suddenly on December 16, 1997 in Kelowna General Hospital at the age of 80 years. He is survived by two sons, Dan Northcott of Ottawa, Ontario, and Doug (Leigh) Northcott of Calgary, Alberta; one daughter Leanne (Bruce) Crompton of Kelowna, BC; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are Ray's brothers, Norman (Thelma) of Caroline, Alberta, Stan (Ruth) of Airdrie, Alberta, Frank (Loretta) of Crossfield, Alberta; sisters, Ellen Kirby of Airdrie, Alberta and Joan (Ken) Browns of Chetwynd, BC; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Ray was predeceased by a brother Ralph Northcott, and a sister Phyllis Campbell. ROGERS -- John (Jack) Alexander, beloved husband of Phyllis for forty-six years, and much loved Dad of Amber (Ken) Lupul, and loved Pa of Kirby and Keegan, passed away at the Forest Grove Care Centre on Tuesday, December 16, 1997 at the age of 74. Also survived by brothers, Bob (Irene), Gerry (Del); and sisters, Margaret, Jeannie, Marie; and brother-in-law Joe Seaman; numerous nieces and nephews. ROLSTON -- Mr. William (Bill) Rolston of Cochrane, Alberta, passed away at the Foothills Hospital, Calgary, Alberta, on December 15, 1997 at the age of 81 years. He is survived by his wife Helen; three children, Bill (Jeanette), Don (Lynn), Barb (Steve); six granddaughters, one great-granddaughter; a brother Robert (Frances); and a brother-in-law Jake Sevrens. Bill served six years in the Royal Canadian Engineers. After his discharge he attended the University of Alberta graduating with a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering, later receiving a Master's Degree at Stanford University in California. Soon after graduating he joined the firm of Associated Engineering Services Ltd., working for them until he retired to the Cochrane area. In accordance with his wishes, Cremation has taken place and no Service will be held. RUNDLE -- Helen M., known to her friends as Phoebe, passed away December 7, 1997 at the age of 80. She was a resident at the Maple Hill Extended Care Facility in Langley, B.C. She is survived by her son Gordon and his wife Tara; and her three grandchildren, Annette, Bobby and Susan. She also leaves a brother J.W. Gibbons, and a sister Grace Brown. TWISS -- Mrs. Lillian Twiss of High River, passed away at the Willow Creek Auxiliary Hospital, Claresholm on December 16, 1997 at the age of 90 years. She is survived by her son Michael (Elaine) Twiss, Nanton; her daughters, Marjorie (Tom) Moncrieff, Cayley, Audrey Puhacz, Beausejour, Manitoba, Dorothy (Dennis) Kohn, Naramada, B.C.; and by fourteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Lillian was predeceased by her husband Clinton in 1978, and her sister Mrs. M.J. Robinson. WHITEFORD -- Mr. James (Jim) G. Whiteford, CD., beloved husband of Mrs. Phyllis Whiteford of Calgary, passed away after a brief illness at the Foothills Hospital on December 16, 1997 at the age of 78. Jim was born in Dykehead, Lanarkshire, Scotland and immigrated with his parents to Canada in 1928. They settled in Olds, Alberta. Jim returned to Britain in 1939 with the Royal Canadian Engineers where he met his wife Phyllis. They were married in Braintree, Essex, on June 20, 1942. After the war they settled in Calgary and had a daughter Gail. Jim joined the Calgary Police Force where he attained the rank of inspector and retired in 1977. Jim was a founding member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 264 as well as founding member and second president of the Calgary Winter Club. He was also a president of the International Police Association, Canadian Representative. Jim was instrumental in the formation of the Provost Corps of the Canadian Service Btn. Since his retirement Jim had been active with the Confederation Park Seniors Centre where he was past president of the Centre, and of the Travel Club, as well as a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge. Since Jim's retirement, he and Phyllis traveled extensively. In the past few years one of his greatest joys was his granddaughter Allison. Jim is survived by a daughter Gail Whiteford, a granddaughter Allison Blake and her father Jim Blake, all of Calgary. He is also survived by two sisters, Jenny and Mary; a brother David; niece Frances; nephews, Kevin and Bryon; and very special friend of the family, Shirley Elder. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Janet, and his brother Robert. Sandy was very active with Kinettes and K-ettes where she held various executive positions and was a life member. She was predeceased by her mother Mildred Saunders in 1990. BEAGLE -- Bernice E. passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 1997 at the age of 76. She is survived and missed by Stuart, her husband of fifty-seven years; children, Robert (Jackie) of Mossleigh, Alta., Gary (Barbara), and Shirley of Calgary; her six grandchildren, Rob and Janice; Stephen, Ryan and Curtis; and Joshua Beagle; her brothers, Len (Laura) and Alvin Stevens of High River, Alta.; and her sister Helen (Hank) Frank of Havre, Mont.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Bernice was born in High River on October 29, 1921 to Chauncey and Grace Stevens and raised on their farm near Dinton. In 1940, she married Stu and they farmed the majority of the time in the Herronton-Mossleigh area, moving to Calgary in 1973. For over twenty-five years, until restricted by ill health, Bernice and Stu enjoyed many active retired years, golfing, fishing, travelling and wintering in Southern California.
